The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly accident involving a teenager that occurred in Brandon.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, a red 2000 Ford Explorer was heading northbound on N Parsons Avenue when a bicyclist, 16-year-old Terry Martin, crossed Parsons Ave in the vehicle's path, just south of Clemons Road. The driver saw the bicycle just before impact and was unable to avoid the crash. The front of the SUV struck the left side of Martin's bicycle. He died at the scene.
The driver, who stopped his vehicle, did not exhibit signs of impairment and was cooperative with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
Martin's next of kin has been notified. Martin was not attending any area high schools.
