Inmate Telephone Services

Phone calls are free of charge in the Central Booking area, allowing new inmates to make bail arrangements and communicate with friends and family. Telephone services are also typically available to inmates in general population housing areas between the hours of 7:30 am and 10:30 pm, and each inmate is afforded some no-cost telephone services each week.  All calls are outgoing only.  For additional information regarding inmate telephone services, and to add funds to an inmate’s communications account, visit https://www.smartinmate.com/, or call 727-349-1561.

Video Visitation

Video Visitation Services (VVS) are available to inmates once assigned to a housing area and are typically available between the hours of 9:30 am and 8:45 pm.  Each inmate is afforded two hours’ worth of no-cost VVS, each week.  VVS sessions can either be scheduled or conducted on-demand (initiated by the inmate).  As of October 28, 2025, our onsite Visitation Center will be closed and all VVS services will be conducted remotely.  For more information regarding VVS and to add funds to an inmate’s communications account, visit https://www.smartinmate.com/, or call 727-349-1561.

Note: Professional Visitors must register with both their driver’s license and professional identification (such as a Florida BAR card).

Professional Visits

Qualified in-person Professional Visitation sessions are available seven days per week, between the hours of 6:00 am and 11:00 pm.

Inmate Mail and Electronic Messaging Services

As of October 28, 2025, all physical inmate mail is to be sent to the below receiving/processing facility:

Note: Personal inmate mail is only received and processed at the above address, and any personal inmate mail received at any Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office facility will be returned to the sender.  Inmates are not permitted to receive packages or periodicals (magazines, newspapers, etc.).

Note: Photographs that violate incoming content policies will be rejected without refund.

Privileged and Legal Mail Notice

All Privileged and Legal Mail must continue to be sent to the facility where the inmate is housed:

All mail identified as legal and/or privileged will be processed on-site. Mail that does not meet the criteria for legal or privileged correspondence will be returned to the sender.
