The Explorer Program is designed to expose youth and young adults to a variety of professions and vocations that will allow members to make informed decisions about potential careers in the field of professional law enforcement or other related career fields.
The Explorer Program is comprised of two separate curiculums: Explorer Post 238 and Explorer Club 238.
Explorer Post 238 is a comprehensive program designed for youth and young adults ages 14 through 20 years old, who are interested in law enforcement or related career. Explorer Post members receive training in various areas of law enforcement operations including but not limited to:
Eligible Post 238 members have the opportunity to participate in the Citizen Observer Program with patrol deputies.
Explorer Club 238 is a law enforcement focused program for youth ages 11-13 years old, which provides members a basic introduction into law enforcement and related career fields to include:

Members of Explorer Post 238 and Explorer Club 238 are exposed to and receive training in various divisions within the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office to include Crime Scene, Patrol Tactics, Legal, etc. Explorer Post members have the opportunity to obtain community service hours by volunteering for HCSO Charities events, as well as, compete in local and national competitions.

There is a one time $50 application fee.
Explorer Post 238 has meetings every Tuesday from 6pm-8pm.
Explorer Club 238 meets the last Tuesday of the month from 6pm-8pm.
