Provides information and referral service to elderly clients to appropriate social services. Will make referral regarding non-profit agencies that can assist in the special needs of the elderly. Examples of needs include assessment, case management, homemaker services, personal care, respite care, home repairs and legal services. Provides 911 cell phones to elder domestic violence victims. The Gate Keeper program can not assist in crisis situations and is only available Monday through Friday 0800-1700 hours. After hours call the 211 information program which operates 24 hours a day. For other extenuating circumstances, fill out an Elder Referral Card and forward it to the Crimes Against the Elderly Unit.
Coalition of law enforcement, service providers and seniors. Distributes File of Life Emergency pockets and 911 cell phones for elder domestic violence.
Consumer information and referrals reference to Medicaid services. Also, responsible for nursing home and assisted living licensure complaints.
Handles Marchman Act Situations and intoxicated individuals.
Responds to scene for mental health and capacity evaluations. Will assist in executing the Baker Act.
