Major Darrin Barlow is a 32-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He was born and raised in Tampa and has resided in Hillsborough County his entire life.
Major Barlow began his career with #teamHCSO in 1993 as a detention deputy before transitioning to a patrol in 1996. He served as a patrol deputy, field training officer, motor unit, and traffic homicide investigator. He has held supervisory positions in patrol and the field training program at each rank during his career. He has also served as a supervisor for the Traffic Unit, Internal Affairs Section, Communications Bureau, Investigation and Operations Bureau, and Community Outreach Division.
Major Barlow has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Saint Leo. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s 130th Administrative Officer’s Course (Police Executive Leadership Program) and the Southern Police Institute’s 98th Command Officer Development Course (Organizational Management Program). He is also a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations Program.
