All property requires an approved property release submitted by the deputy or a Court Order signed by a judge. The Property Release must be on file at the Evidence Section. You must bring the original signed Court Order to the Evidence Section.
Property will only be returned to the person specified on the release or Court Order.
Valid government issued identification (drivers license, passport, etc.) must be presented to claim property.
Firearms will only be returned after a successful completion of a background check.
Ammunition will not be returned on the same day of a firearm.
A Dismissal of a Risk Protection Order must state “return of all firearms” in order to have the firearms returned. You must contact the Legal Section to have a property release completed if “return of firearms” does not appear.
Firearm returns numbering five or more will require an appointment.
Having your HCSO Report Number will help to expedite the return of property.
