Major Troy J. Morgan has proudly served the community for more than 31 years as a member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He began his career in 1994 as a Reserve I Deputy and was hired full-time as a Deputy Sheriff in 1995. Throughout his career, Major Morgan has served in a wide range of assignments, including District II and District IV Patrol, SWAT, DUI Enforcement, Street Crimes, and the Criminal Investigations Division, where he worked in Robbery, Homicide, and as a Jail Detective.
In 2008, he was promoted to Corporal, serving in District IV Patrol, the District I Traffic Unit, and as the Administrative Corporal within the Department of Patrol Services. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013, supervising in DUI Enforcement and District II Investigations. In 2017, he advanced to Lieutenant, leading the District V Investigative Unit, District I and District V Patrol, serving as Field Training Coordinator, and overseeing the Behavioral Resources Unit. In 2024, as a Captain, he commanded the Forensic Services Support Division, overseeing the Traffic Bureau, Evidence Section, Forensics Section, and Identification Section.
Major Morgan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University and completed both the Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute through FBI LEEDA. He is the recipient of the State of Florida MADD Deputy of the Year Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and numerous commendations recognizing his dedication and service throughout his career.
