TGH Employee Arrested For Child Exploitation Material

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Tampa General Hospital employee for possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material.

HCSO’s Internet Predator Unit launched the investigation after uncovering suspicious activity on a social media platform. Through investigative means, detectives identified David Scott Farber, 42.

Detectives performed a residential search warrant and recovered 79 images and videos of child sexual abuse material. The felony charges are subject to enhanced penalties due to the nature of the content, which involved children under the age of five and depicted explicit abuse.

Further investigation revealed that Farber, an employee at Tampa General Hospital, had also taken inappropriate photos and videos of himself in operating rooms and patient care areas, which he then distributed to others via social media.

Farber was taken into custody without incident on June 3, 2025. He faces 79 felony counts related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

“This arrest is both disturbing and appalling,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The exploitation of innocent children is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. And to learn this suspect had access to vulnerable individuals while employed in a health care setting makes his actions even more reprehensible. We will ensure he is held fully accountable under the law.”

This is an active investigation. Any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
