UPDATE: March 4, 2026

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation of a 4-year-old child in Wimauma.

On February 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 2500 block of Tee Time Road. 

When deputies arrived, they located a child suffering from upper body trauma, which resulted in death. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. 

“This is a heartbreaking case, and our detectives are working tirelessly to determine the events that led to this tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring anyone responsible is held fully accountable.”

This remains an active investigation. Any updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
