On May 30, 2023, deputies responded to multiple reports of vehicle burglaries within the vicinity of 9th Street Southeast and College Avenue and 11th Avenue Northeast and 15th Street Northeast. Deputies determined there had been five vehicle burglaries and three stolen vehicles.

The unknown suspects targeted unlocked vehicles, stealing valuables, including cash, credit cards and even a firearm. In some cases, vehicles were left unlocked with a keyfob inside, allowing criminals to steal the cars.

The stolen vehicles were:

  • White Honda Accord
  • Gray Toyota Camry
  • Gray Toyota Highlander

Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures to avoid crimes of opportunity.

"Locking your vehicles and removing your keys are simple but effective steps to safeguard against crimes like these," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We urge all residents to remain vigilant and secure their belongings properly. By working together, we can deter criminals and protect our communities."

The stolen vehicles were recovered in Pinellas County. Through investigative means, HCSO believes the suspects may be in the St. Petersburg area. HCSO is actively working with the St. Petersburg Police Department.
