The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Ahmad Joseph McKinnon, 17, for leaving the scene of a crash that left a victim with serious injuries.
On February 18, 2025, at 5:34 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of CR 579 and Clay Pit Road, where they found a female victim on the ground with facial injuries and a possible broken leg. The victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
Deputies determined that the driver was operating a black Honda. Deputies searched the area, located the vehicle pulling into a neighborhood, and conducted a traffic stop.
Ahmad McKinnon admitted to deputies that he was the driver of the vehicle.
"Thanks to the hard work of our deputies, this suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody. Anyone who thinks they can flee the scene of a crash and escape responsibility should think again," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We will continue to pursue justice for victims and make it clear that reckless actions like this will not be tolerated in Hillsborough County."
Ahmad Joseph McKinnon was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury.
The investigation remains active, and any updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
