The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide in Lutz.
On November 29, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., HCSO's 911 center received a call from a concerned mother who was unable to contact her 5-year-old son and his father.
Deputies conducted a wellness check at the residence on the 17600 block of Cranbrook Drive at 7:53 a.m., finding no immediate signs of concern.
At 9:55 a.m., the mother called 911 again after gaining entry to the home, where she discovered both her son and his father deceased.
Deputies arrived at the scene at 10:05 a.m. and confirmed the deaths.
Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds.
HCSO's detectives are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
"This is an incredibly heartbreaking loss for this family, and our prayers are with them during this unimaginable time," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Tragedies like this have a profound impact on everyone involved, including our deputies who responded to such a devastating scene right after Thanksgiving. We are committed to providing support to both the grieving family and our deputies as they process this difficult situation."
This is an active investigation; any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
