Inmate Death Under Investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after an inmate died. 
 
On April 20, 2025, at 1:22 p.m., Matthew Garon, 45, an inmate incarcerated at Falkenburg Road Jail, was found unresponsive in his jail cell from suspected self-inflicted injuries. Deputies immediately rendered aid before he was transported to a local hospital. 
 
After arrival at the hospital, his health declined, and he was declared deceased on April 26, 2025, at 5:43 a.m.
 
The Medical Examiner's Office will determine his cause of death. Garon's next of kin has been notified.
 
The investigation is ongoing. The Public Affairs Office will release any further updates.
