On November 27 at 4:42 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident at the TZM Bella Mar apartments, located near 127th Ave E and Spicer Place, after hearing gunshots.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found an adult black male in his 20s with apparent gun shot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives say the victim arrived to the apartment complex to meet someone. Witnesses told detectives that shortly after hearing gun shots, a white Kia 4-door sedan fled the complex. It was occupied by at least two black males, also in their 20s.
Detectives want the public to know that this does not appear to be a random act of violence. They continue to process the scene and collect evidence. There are security cameras inside and outside the apartment complex, which detectives hope will give them a better idea of exactly what happened at the time of this shooting.
This is an open and active investigation. No other details will be provided at this time.
