UPDATE: Suspect Identified in February Homicide

Deputies have arrested Keonte Henley, the suspect in the February 21, 2023, shooting death of a woman on the 1200 block of East 139th Street. Henley turned himself in to deputies on March 14, 2023.

"Now that this suspect is in custody, this case can go through the judicial system," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We hope this is another step in the healing process for the victim's family."

He was booked into the Orient Road Jail and is facing charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Manslaughter with a Weapon.

UPDATE: March 3, 2023

Detectives have identified the man responsible for the homicide on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, on the 1200 block of East 139th Street. Keonte Henley, 27, is wanted in connection to this crime. He has warrants for Manslaughter with a Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Investigators are asking for the public's help locating Henley, also known as "Ya Dig" or "Dig." He may have altered his appearance, including shaving his hair.

"I commend the work of our detectives and CSIs who worked diligently to gather the evidence and piece together the case," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I know this is a tough time for the victim's family, and I hope this helps in the healing process as we seek to bring the person responsible to justice."

Keonte Henley is considered to be armed and dangerous. The public should not approach him. The Hillsborough County sheriffs office is investigating a homicide.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, shortly before 1 a.m., deputies responded to the 
1200 block of East 139th street.

When they arrived, they discovered a woman with severe upper body trauma.

The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

“We are heartbroken for the family and friends who lost a loved one this morning,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We do believe this is an isolated incident. Our detectives are working to bring answers to the victim’s family.”
