The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with murder following a fatal shooting that left an adult male deceased.
On April 20, 2025, at 3:45 a.m., deputies responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 12401 Orange Grove Drive in Tampa. A male victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds and later pronounced deceased at AdventHealth Carrollwood Hospital.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Jesiah Deangelo-Cruz, 19, as the suspect. On April 20, 2025, they obtained an arrest warrant for Deangelo-Cruz in connection to a domestic violence incident. He was charged with Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Battery (Second/Subsequent Offense). With the assistance of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, he was located and arrested in Pasco County, Florida.
As the investigation continued, detectives recovered additional evidence linking Deangelo-Cruz to the fatal shooting.
On April 21, 2025, an arrest warrant was obtained charging him with Premeditated First-Degree Murder with a Firearm. Deangelo-Cruz is currently being held in Pasco County, awaiting extradition.
"This suspect made a devastating and violent choice that took an innocent life. Thanks to the determined efforts of our detectives, he is now charged and will face the full consequences of his actions," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We hope this brings comfort to the victim's loved ones, and we will continue working closely with our partners to ensure the suspect is held fully accountable."

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation following a deadly shooting in Tampa.
On April 20, 2025, at 3:45 a.m., deputies responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 12401 Orange Grove Drive.
When deputies arrived, they found a male victim lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to AdventHealth Carrollwood Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
"On a day when families gather to enjoy each other's company, our community was shattered by senseless violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are working diligently to gather every detail and hold the person accountable. Our hearts are with the victim's loved ones during this tragic time."
