The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, along with the Plant City Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol, closely monitored and patrolled downtown streets to ensure safety for all those involved.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., approximately 125 protesters walked down Collins and South Evers Streets, and gathered in front of the Hillsborough County Circuit Courthouse, where they shared a prayer with deputies. The demonstration remained lively and uplifting throughout its duration, with all participants conscience of the importance of keeping the event safe and peaceful.
"The group, which consisted of people of all ages, voiced its message in a strong and meaningful way, and we want to assure them we are listening," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Peaceful protests demand respect and applause."
No arrests were made. Deputies responded to a traffic crash nearby, but it was unrelated to the protest.
