TWO ARRESTED FOR HIT-AND-RUN INCIDENT

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a victim with multiple injuries.

On November 18, 2024, at 2:07 p.m., deputies responded to the Shell gas station located at 11302 North Dale Mabry Highway after reports of a hit-and-run that left a victim seriously injured.

Through investigative efforts, deputies determined that the vehicle arrived at the gas station and parked in front of the store. The front-seat passenger, Jose Corbo, 24, entered the store, took two soda bottles without paying, and exited.

When the store clerk confronted Corbo as he re-entered the vehicle, the driver, Marie Uribe, 24, sped away. The victim attempted to intervene, approaching the car, and Corbo held the victim's arm onto it before ultimately pushing them out. The victim lost her balance and was run over as the vehicle fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

On November 18, 2024, deputies arrested Marie Uribe and she is now facing the following charges:

  • Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury
  • Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm (x2)

On November 20, 2024, deputies arrested Jose Corbo and he is now facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm (X2)
  • Resisting Arrest or Detention in Retail Theft
  • Petit Theft ($100 or Less)
  • Out of County Warrant - (VOP) Grand Theft Motor Vehicle

“This senseless act of violence left an innocent person seriously injured. We will not tolerate reckless actions like this that put lives at risk,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We hope this arrest brings some measure of comfort to the victim as she recover from this traumatic incident."

This is an active investigation. The Public Affairs Office will provide any updates.
