This week, nine inmates graduated from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Vocational Training Center's brand new hair braiding course.
Graduates were taught by a certified instructor, fully funded by inmate canteen funds. In addition to braiding, they learned proper sanitation and sterilization, and how to identify and prevent scalp disorders.
"These graduates have learned valuable skills that can help them succeed when they are released from jail," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "They can become an entrepreneur, work in a salon, and provide even better care for their loved ones."
