The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest following a fatal shooting Friday night.
On Friday, November 10, 2023, at 4:25 p.m., a call came into our Communications Center that a man had been shot near the Advanced Auto Parts off of Highview Road and East Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Brandon. When deputies arrived on the scene they encountered Gregory Hornsby, 24, and an adult man who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
After an extensive investigation, detectives determined there was an altercation between Hornsby and the victim that led to the shooting. Hornsby was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail for booking.
He's currently charged with the following:

Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm

Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony with a Weapon
"Murder is a heinous crime that should never be tolerated, and we must collectively condemn these actions," said Sheriff Chad Chronister, "In the face of this darkness, I commend the dedication and efforts of our deputies who pursued justice in this investigation. Their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of our citizens is a testament to the strength of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office."

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting that has resulted in a death.
On November 10, 2023, at 4:25 p.m., our Communications Center received a call that shots had been fired near the Advanced Auto Parts on Highview Road and East Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd in Brandon.
Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male victim who had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Tonight our community saw a senseless act of violence take place, but even in that tragedy our deputies swiftly restored order and security at the scene," said Sheriff Chad Chronister, "I couldn't be more proud of the tireless work from our deputies to piece together what took place tonight, ensuring that justice prevails in our community."
The scene is contained and there is no active danger to the public.
