The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Aviation Unit and deputies from District 4 helped rescue a man lost in the woods of Little Manatee River State Park.
On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a hiker called 911 reporting to be lost and dehydrated. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and Team HCSO aviation units were able to locate the man deep in some brush off the trail, unable to walk out on his own. HCSO Air Service was able to locate the man, rescue him using the hoist, and extract the man to safety. HCFR helped treat the man for dehydration at the scene.
"We are grateful for the life- saving work done by the deputies, the HCSO Air Unit, and our partners at HCFR," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We are fortunate to have the necessary tools and training that are crucial in keeping our communities safe. We hope the man rescued recovers quickly."
