Arrest Made After Online Threats to Courthouse

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for making online threats.

On January 7, 2025, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reacted promptly following a tip from a concerned citizen regarding alarming comments posted on a social networking site. The comments, made on January 6, 2025, raised serious concerns about public safety.

Adam Scott Robitaille, 46, posted statements suggesting an imminent threat at the courthouse.

Although Robitaille deleted the posts, the content produced a credible and well-founded fear for the safety of Hillsborough County Courthouse employees, staff, and citizens.

HCSO detectives launched an investigation and interviewed Robitaille, who admitted to making the posts out of frustration. Robitaille was arrested on one count of Written or Electronic Threat to Kill or Do Bodily Injury.

"Our community's safety is our highest priority, and we take any threat—whether made in frustration or otherwise—extremely seriously," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I commend the concerned citizen who reported this and our detectives for acting swiftly to prevent what could have been a tragedy. This incident serves as a reminder that words have consequences, and our office will continue to be vigilant in protecting the people of Hillsborough County."

This case remains under investigation.
