MAN TURNS HIMSELF IN FOR SEPTEMBER HOMICIDE IN WIMAUMA

A man involved in the September 23, 2023, homicide on Sanchez Ranch Lane in Wimauma has turned himself in to deputies. 

On September 23, 2023, HCSO deputies responded to a homicide on Sanchez Ranch Lane in Wimauma. During the investigation, a warrant was obtained for Osmin Castillo, 21, for 2nd Degree Murder.

During the investigation, detectives discovered that Castillo was also having a sexual relationship with a child under the age of 16. 

On November 19, 2023, Osmin Castillo turned himself into Orient Road Jail and is currently facing the following charges:

  • Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon
  • Lewd and Lascivious Battery X 9
  • Possession of Child Pornography X3
  • In State Transmission of Child Pornography by Electronic Device X3
  • Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance X3

"Today, justice prevailed as our deputies removed another dangerous criminal from our streets," said Sheriff Chad Chronister, "The arrest of this individual responsible for this homicide and these other heinous crimes serves as a testament to the dedication of our team here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office."

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Wimauma.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, just before 5:30 a.m., the HCSO Communications Center received a call reporting one person was deceased after a domestic altercation. When deputies arrived, they discovered an adult male with upper body trauma in the 3300 block of Sanchez Ranch Lane.

"It is sickening to see a domestic situation tragically escalate into a brutal murder," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "The poor actions of one person have permanently and irreparably changed the lives of this family. Our hearts go out to the family during this time of unimaginable grief and loss."

Detectives are currently working to locate Osmin Castillo, 21, for his involvement in this case. Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the suspect's whereabouts is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813)247-8200.

"There is no reason, no excuse, and no circumstance that justifies resorting to violence, especially between loved ones," said Sheriff Chronister. "To anyone out there who may be living in fear of domestic violence or suspects the potential for such a situation in their lives, please hear me loud and clear. You are not alone, and there is help available."
