Operation Click It or Ticket Results

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has completed a three-day "Click It or Ticket" operation aimed at reducing accidents and speeders during rush hour.

The operation, which began on Monday, May 20, 2024, was focused on high-traffic areas in Gibsonton, Riverview, Carrollwood, and Town ‘N’ Country.

HCSO conducted 557 traffic stops. There were 136 citations, 423 warnings, and seven arrests.

One notable arrest:

On May 21, 2024, at 4:58 p.m., during a traffic stop on a motorcycle, the rider was identified as Theodore Standish, 38, who was riding with a suspended license from Minnesota.

A check revealed an active warrant from Lee County, where he resides. Upon arrest, a search uncovered a crystal-like substance on him, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

An inventory search of the motorcycle revealed two firearms, a digital scale, and more methamphetamine.

Standish was arrested without incident and charged with the following:

  • Armed Possession of a Controlled Substance

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  • Out of County Warrant

"As we gear up for a holiday weekend, it was critical that teamHCSO deputies send a clear message: endangering other drivers by speeding is unacceptable," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "As Your Sheriff, I am committed to ensuring everyone gets home safely to their loved ones. This week's effort underscores that commitment."

Sheriff Chronister also urged the community to celebrate Memorial Day weekend safely. HCSO's DUI Unit will be proactively patrolling hotspots to ensure driver safety.

"Don't start your summer the wrong way; make a plan to get home safely before you start drinking," added Sheriff Chronister. "In 2024, there is simply no excuse for driving under the influence."
