The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking shoppers to "think before you click" this holiday shopping season.
In a public service announcement (PSA) shared on HCSO's social media platforms on November 30, Sheriff Chad Chronister offered tips to help shoppers avoid becoming the victim of a scam. (CLICK HERE TO VIEW PSA)
"Always get a tracking number to follow the delivery process," said Sheriff Chronister. "Never wire money to a seller directly. A credit card is generally the safest way to pay. It is always smart to check a seller's reviews before placing your order. That feedback from other buyers can help you decide whether it's a trustworthy company."
Don't forget you can take advantage of teamHCSO's Operation Pinch-A-Grinch. To decrease the likelihood of package thefts, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office launched “Operation Pinch- A-Grinch” last month. It's an opportunity for Hillsborough County residents to have their online orders shipped to the agency's District III and District V Offices. HCSO will accept packages at the two locations until December 21, 2020.
