Sheriff Chad Chronister remains a steadfast advocate for mental health awareness and support within Hillsborough County.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Sheriff Chronister joined 10 Tampa Bay's Frank Wiley to discuss resources and how teamHCSO is equipping our employees with the tools they need to prioritize mental health.
Championing Normalization: Sheriff Chronister's commitment extends beyond Mental Health Awareness Month. He consistently champions the need for open conversations about mental health, both within the Sheriff's Office and the community at large.
Equipping the Team: This dedication manifests in innovative programs for HCSO employees and collaborations with organizations like the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. These initiatives equip deputies with the tools they need to prioritize mental health in their interactions and prioritize their own well-being.
Ending the Stigma: While May is Mental Health Awareness Month, Sheriff Chronister and HCSO emphasize that the conversation doesn't end there. We encourage our community to:
- Reach Out: Check on loved ones and let them know you care.
- Spread Awareness: Share resources available through the First Responders Hotline, 211, and 988.
- Seek Professional Guidance: Maintain regular communication with a primary care physician regarding mental health needs.
- Prioritize Self-Care: Implement healthy habits like exercise and meditation into your routine.
Remember: Sheriff Chronister reiterates the crucial message – it's okay to not be okay, but it's never okay to not seek help. Resources are readily available, and open communication is vital for a healthy community.
