Arrest Made Following Armed Burglary

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested an individual following an armed burglary.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 12:40 a.m., on the 4700 block of Orange Haven Place in Plant City, a resident was alerted to a suspect trespassing on their property.

The victim stepped outside and witnessed an individual wearing a ski mask and holding a large bag. When confronted, the suspect fled toward a vehicle parked nearby.

HCSO's Aviation Section quickly responded and located the vehicle fleeing into Polk County at a high rate of speed and provided surveillance, directing deputies to a home on the 5200 block of Wood Thrush Way in Lakeland.

A search warrant was executed on the residence in collaboration with the Lakeland Police Department.

Deputies recovered a stolen firearm, wallets, designer handbags, cash and a ripped passport.

Through investigative means, Ervin Michael, 27, was taken into custody at the Polk County Jail.

Michael is facing the following charges:

  • Armed Burglary of a Conveyance
  • Felony Fleeing to Elude While Wearing a Mask
  • Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance While Wearing a Mask
  • Grand Theft Firearm

"This arrest exemplifies the dedication and collaboration between our deputies, Aviation Unit, and our partners at Lakeland PD," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Thanks to their quick and coordinated efforts, we were able to arrest this suspect quickly, recover the stolen property, and ensure justice for the victims."

This is an active investigation. Any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
