Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies have charged Levi Stevenson, 28, with Attempted Murder after he struck his girlfriend with a vehicle.
On June 12, 2026, deputies responded to East 138th Avenue in Tampa, where a woman was struck by a car and transported to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.
Detectives learned that Stevenson and the victim got into an altercation, and when she tried to call for help, he forcefully took her phone.
As the victim was walking along the side of East 138th Avenue, Stevenson veered off the roadway, struck her with his vehicle, and then fled the area.
"A moment of anger should never cost someone their life. This victim showed incredible courage by walking away from a dangerous situation, only to be met with unthinkable violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Thanks to the determination of our detectives, this individual is now in custody and will face the consequences of his actions."
Stevenson was located and arrested on June 15, 2026, and faces Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Robbery by Sudden Snatching.
This is an active investigation; any updates will come from the Public Affairs Office.
