Stephanie Pepper, 26, was employed as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at a retirement community located at 851 W Lumsden Road in Brandon. She was assigned to care for an 82-year-old patient, who Pepper stole a checkbook from on November 5 and fraudulently wrote a check to herself for $6,000.
Pepper deposited the check into her back account on November 21, which alerted a relative of the victim. Detecives located and interviewed Pepper. She admitted to the offense.
Pepper was arrested and charged with forgery, uttering forged instruments and theft from a person 65 years or older.
