Arrest Made In Seffner Homicide

UPDATE: July 1, 2025.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested two individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last month in Seffner.

On May 14, 2025, at 3:14 a.m., deputies responded to the 100 block of Phillips Drive following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Michael Workman, 31, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On May 16, 2025, HCSO's Aviation Unit was dispatched to assist ground units in tracking the suspect, Kristopher Bridges, 29, when they located him at a convenience store parking lot in Temple Terrace.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but Bridges intentionally struck a Sheriff's Office vehicle and fled the area, prompting a pursuit that led into Thonotosassa.

Using the precision immobilization technique (PIT), deputies successfully stopped the vehicle. Bridges then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

Bridges was initially charged with:

  • Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
  • Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer with Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Officer Without Violence
  • Reckless Driving with Property Damage or Personal Injury
  • Out of County Warrant CT1 Aggravated Assault-Weapon-W Deadly Weapon Without Intent to Kill
  • Out of County Warrant CT2 Possession of Weapon- or Ammo by Convicted Fla Felon
  • Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon
  • Robbery with a Firearm ($750 or More but Less Than $20,000)

As a result of continued investigative efforts, detectives identified Bridges as the shooter in this case.

On June 30, 2025, Bridges was charged with the following additional offenses:

  • First-Degree Murder with a Firearm (Premeditated)
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony

A second suspect, Tara Weimer, 39, was also identified as being involved in the incident.

Weimer is facing the following charges:

  • Accessory After the Fact
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony

“When you choose violence in our community, you choose the consequences,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “There’s no excuse, no justification, and no way to avoid accountability. Our detectives worked quickly to deliver justice and ensure those responsible are held fully accountable for their actions.”

This remains an active investigation. Any additional updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
