The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Captain on multiple counts of Child Pornography.
On January 30, 2025, HCSO's Internet Predator Unit served a search warrant at a location in Hillsborough County following a thorough investigation.
During the initial search, detectives located numerous electronics containing more than 300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Marshall Van Nelson, 52, was arrested and charged with 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography 10 or more Images and Content of Images.
"The actions of this individual are not only vile and deeply disturbing but also a betrayal of the trust placed in those who are meant to protect and serve," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "There is no place in our community for such reprehensible behavior. I commend the efforts of our Internet Predator Unit detectives, whose relentless pursuit of justice has ensured that this offender will be held accountable for these unacceptable actions."
This is an active and ongoing investigation. The Public Affairs Office will release any further information.
