The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection to the November 2024 homicide that occurred in Sun City Center.

On November 10, 2024, at 10:43 p.m., deputies responded to the 7200 block of Camp Island Avenue following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Brandon Clark, 18, deceased from a gunshot wound near the community center, where a gathering had escalated into a fatal altercation.

Through extensive investigative efforts, HCSO detectives identified Malachi Higgs, 18, as the suspect responsible for Clark’s death. A grand jury has indicted Higgs, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Higgs now faces the following charges:

“This arrest is the result of the tireless work by our detectives and a commitment to seeking justice,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “While nothing can undo the loss suffered by this young man’s family, we hope this development brings a measure of closure.”
