HCSO investigating vehicle vs. pedestrian crash

At 7:15 p.m., on January 30, 2020, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

The juvenile victim was walking home with friends shortly before the 911 call. The friends were walking toward 122nd Avenue East on 15th Street in Tampa. The victim crossed the road and was hit by a small, dark colored SUV near the intersection.

The driver of the SUV, a female, did get out of her car following the crash. She checked around the car before getting back into it. However, she did not render any type of aid to the victim or call 911. The juvenile victim is listed in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.

HCSO's Eye on Crime camera captured the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Detectives are also looking for a silver, light colored truck with a black stripe across the top of it. The driver of that vehicle was driving behind the suspect vehicle. The truck's driver stopped and rendered aid to the victim. Detectives say the truck's driver may be able to provide a better description of the suspect and the suspect's vehicle.

If you have any information regarding this case, you're asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.

This is an ongoing and active investigation. No further details will be released at this time.
