Arrest Made In Tampa Homicide Investigation

UPDATE:

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting near the intersection of Progress Boulevard and South 82nd Street in Tampa.

On May 30, 2025, at 4:19 p.m., deputies responded to reports of shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Terrel Ferrell, 24, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He had been riding as a passenger in a vehicle that also contained a female driver and a child in the backseat.

Through investigative means, detectives learned that the driver briefly stopped to speak with the suspect when the suspect opened fire. In an attempt to escape, the driver sped away and accidentally struck a motorized bicyclist, who sustained minor injuries. The vehicle continued to a nearby Thorntons convenience store to get help.

Ferrell was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the shooter as Dayjon Clarke, 24.

On June 2, 2025, detectives located Clarke at a residence on the 100 block of Logarto Circle West in Lutz.

“This violent act stole a young man’s life and put innocent lives in jeopardy —including a child,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Let this serve as a message: if you commit a violent crime in our community, we will find you, and you will face justice.”

He is facing the following charges:

  • Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm - Great Bodily Harm/Death
  • Shooting at Within or Into a Vehicle
  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

This remains an active investigation. Any further updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office.
