Sheriff Chad Chronister is proud to announce that the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
This prestigious accreditation is awarded to law enforcement agencies that demonstrate excellence in management and service delivery.The accreditation process is a rigorous and comprehensive review of the agency's policies, procedures and operations.
CALEA assesses agencies on various standards related to law enforcement best practices, including use of force, evidence management, community relations and training.
"The accreditation from CALEA is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff to providing the highest level of service to the residents of Hillsborough County," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We are committed to upholding the standards set forth by CALEA and ensuring that our agency continues to operate at the highest level."
This process was a collaborative effort involving all members of HCSO and included a thorough on-site assessment by CALEA assessors. The assessors reviewed the agency's policies, procedures and operations and interviewed staff and community members.
"We are proud to have achieved this accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to professionalism and excellence in law enforcement," said Sheriff Chronister. "We will continue to work diligently to maintain the high standards set forth by CALEA and to serve our community with the utmost professionalism."
The accreditation is valid for four years, during which time HCSO will be required to submit annual reports demonstrating continued compliance with CALEA's standards.
