The search for a missing 13-year-old girl has come to a safe conclusion after she was located in Broward County, Florida.
Breanne Spivey, 13, was reported missing from her Hillsborough County residence on September 14, 2024. Spivey left her home in Plant City without permission sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office immediately responded, and Spivey was listed as an endangered missing juvenile; an FDLE Missing Child Alert was also activated.
Through investigative means, detectives determined that Spivey was in Broward County with Edward Rodriguez, 38, an adult male she met online.
With the assistance of the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals, Spivey was located, and Rodriguez was taken into custody.
"We are immensely grateful that this young girl has been found," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I want to extend my deepest thanks to the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals for their quick and effective support. Our joint efforts have brought a young girl home to her family, and that is what truly matters."
Rodriguez is facing one count of Interference with Child Custody. Additional charges from the Broward County Sheriff's Office may be forthcoming.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the agencies involved for their prompt and coordinated efforts, which led to Spivey's safe recovery.
