With the academic year wrapping up for Hillsborough County students without traditional graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister is offering words of encouragement and inspiration to local graduates in a virtual commencement speech.
In the video message released on the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office social media accounts on Friday, May 22, Sheriff Chronister congratulated all those graduating in the Class of 2020.
“I know this is not the graduation you had planned or hoped for, and I know it feels hard to celebrate right now,” said Sheriff Chronister, “but I want each of you to know how proud I am of your accomplishments.”
Sheriff Chronister joins a long list of public figures to take to social media offering virtual commencement speeches to high school and college graduates.
“I’m so sorry that you aren’t able to celebrate in person with your classmates, families and friends, but what COVID-19 cannot take from you is the knowledge you’ve gained, the creativity you were born with, or the resilience you will never lose because of these challenging times.”
Sheriff Chronister’s virtual commencement speech can be viewed and shared on the HCSO social media accounts @HCSOSheriff and the HCSO YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoXKeK7Zc0A&feature=youtu.be
