The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office conducted "Lucky To Be Safe" a joint-agency enforcement initiative aimed at removing impaired drivers from our roads and ensure a safe St. Patrick's Day celebration on March 17, 2025.
In partnership with the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol, HCSO intensified DUI enforcement throughout the holiday, targeting dangerous driving behaviors and ensuring impaired drivers were removed from our roadways to keep the community safe.
"Driving under the influence is a reckless and inexcusable decision that puts lives at risk, and we will take strong action against those who endanger others," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "If you drive impaired, you will be caught, you will be arrested, and you will face the consequences. Our deputies work tirelessly to keep these dangerous individuals off our roads, and we will continue to do whatever it takes to protect the people of Hillsborough County."
The following are the enforcement totals for Operation Lucky to Be Safe:
- Traffic Stops: 142
- Citations: 9
- DUI Arrests: 12
- Total Weekend DUI Arrests: 33
