Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office visited the Home Association in Tampa Monday, December 19, to spread some holiday cheer. Organized by the Sheriff's Black Advisory Council, seniors received gifts delivered by deputies, a visit from Santa, and a performance of Christmas songs by a young singer.
“When the little girl started to sing, I had a hard time holding back tears,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Just to see the joy that it brought to everyone’s face, it was a reminder to the elders in our community that they’re loved and cared for by many.”
There were close to 40 seniors at the program Monday morning who were overjoyed and expressed their gratitude for the surprise visit.
The Home Association is an adult congregate living facility that has provided 24-7 care for seniors in the community for more than 100 years.
