Inmate Death Under Investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after an inmate passed away at the hospital.
 
On February 24, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Jesse Burnett, 59, an inmate incarcerated at Falkenburg Road Jail, was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital for a medical-related event.
 
After arrival at the hospital, his health declined, and he passed away at approximately 4 p.m. on February 25, 2025.
 
The Medical Examiner's Office will determine his cause of death. Mr. Burnett's next of kin was notified.
 
The investigation is ongoing. The Public Affairs Office will release any further updates.
