Targeted Crimes Unit Nabs Three Wanted Criminals

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Targeted Crimes Unit is taking measures to keep our community safe.

This week, detectives arrested three dangerous felons in separate cases, demonstrating the efficiency and prowess of their investigative skills.

Raykario Iverson, 21

July 30, 2024: While assisting with a probation check on Iverson, a 15th Street Gang associate, detectives located a magazine loaded with live ammunition on top of his probation paperwork.

Detectives, with an authorized search warrant, later recovered a pistol, two magazines, ammunition, and body armor.

Iverson was charged with:

  • Felon in Possession of Firearm/Ammunition

"The thorough nature of this investigation ensures this dangerous man will be held accountable for not only violating his probation but, yet again, going down the wrong path," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I'm relieved our deputies got to him before he could inflict violence in our community."

Iverson has been arrested more than ten times in Hillsborough County.

Heriberto Cantu, Jr., 35

July 30, 2024: Cantu Jr., currently on probation for Criminal Mischief/Property Damage, was arrested during a probation check.

Cantu Jr., who has previous felony convictions, was found to be in possession of more than 1,200 rounds of various ammunitions.

Cantu Jr. was charged with:

  • Felon in Possession of Firearm/Ammunition

"This felon clearly was not taking probation seriously and will be forced to surrender not only his ammunition, but his freedom," said Sheriff Chronister.

Cantu Jr. has been arrested more than ten times in Hillsborough County.

Gadiel Sierra, 20

July 31, 2024: Detectives identified Sierra as an individual responsible for three thefts in Tampa off of Birdwater Drive.

Sierra, who also had warrants out of Polk County, was responding to Facebook Marketplace ads where people were selling cell phones. He proposed a meeting location and fled on foot before paying for the devices in each instance.

Sierra was arrested in Lakeland with the assistance of the Polk County Sheriff's Office and faces Grand Theft charges, among others.

"This man stole from innocent victims in our community, and that infuriates me," said Sheriff Chronister. "Please, if you're completing an online transaction, use any of our district offices. They're designated as safe meeting places and have camera surveillance 24/7."

Sierra is booked in Polk County jail. A booking photo from April 2024 has been provided.

These investigations are ongoing; the Public Affairs Office will provide any updates.
