HCSO's High Visibility Enforcement

In a continuous effort to make Hillsborough County roadways safer, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is currently conducting High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) details.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, Hillsborough County ranks 4th in Florida for serious and fatal traffic crashes.

On August 22, 2022, HCSO launched the HVE Operation which is funded through a contract with the University of North Florida and FDOT.  The operation will run through May 12, 2023.  Since the launch of the operation, HCSO has dedicated more than 775 hours to HVE with the primary objective of educating the public. 

As of December 13, 2022, deputies have interacted with 1,760 pedestrians, 524 bicyclists, and 613 motorists providing educational materials on pedestrian safety.  Additionally, 58 motorists were issued citations, and warnings have been issued to 717 pedestrians, 175 bicyclists, and 683 motorists.
