Shortly before 9 p.m. on October 30, an armed home invasion occurred at a residence on the 100 block of Old Welcome Road. Two armed suspects entered the home, pistol-whipped an adult male victim and demanded money. An adult female in the home armed herself with an AR-10 and fired one shot, striking and killing one of the suspects later identified as 27-year-old Joseph Michael Baez. The residence is believed to have been targeted due to criminal activity happening inside the home.
Through the course of the investigation, two additional suspects were identified as having been involved in the incident. A warrant was issued for Ty'Zae Robinson, 19, who was one of the home invaders, and Kiara Ragins, 24, who served as the get-away driver.
On Saturday, December 14, Robinson was located and taken into custody by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for 2nd Degree Felony Murder with Possession of a Firearm. His charge is linked to the death of Baez. Ragins was located by the Plant City Police Department on Sunday, December 15, and arrested on a warrant for Accessory After the Fact to 2nd Degree Felony Murder.
