The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in 2022.
On January 13, 2026, deputies arrested Nekko Orta, 27, for the murder of Bryce Green.
On May 6, 2022, deputies responded to a shooting at the Verra North Apartments located at 1250 Skipper Road in Tampa. Upon arrival, deputies located Green deceased.
Initial charges were filed in 2022, and the case underwent extensive legal review. On November 7, 2024, a Hillsborough County Grand Jury convened and returned an indictment charging Nekko Orta with First Degree Murder.
A warrant was issued and coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, resulted in Orta’s arrest.
“This arrest demonstrates our commitment to never giving up on victims and their families,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Even four years later, our detectives remained relentless, using every investigative tool available and working closely with our law enforcement partners to pursue justice. Their dedication and professionalism are what ultimately led to this arrest.”
