Remembering MPO Jesse Madsen

As the community continues to mourn the death of Tampa Police Department Master Patrol Officer Jesse Madsen, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office remembers his life and legacy.

In May 2020, during the riot at University Mall, HCSO Master Deputy William Scobie was hit in the head with a piece of concrete, which left him temporarily paralyzed. MPO Madsen and another member of TPD rushed to his aid, carrying him to a car and rushing him to the hospital. Master Deputy Scobie reflects on MPO Madsen's actions, how he saved his life, and the lasting impression Madsen left on him.

"MPO Madsen’s actions that night, like so many times before, prove that he is a hero,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “He was no stranger to taking life-saving measures, and he most certainly saved the life of Master Deputy Scobie that night. We continue to mourn the tragic loss of MPO Madsen. We will never forget his selfless service to our community.”
