HCSO Rescues Woman Held Against Her Will

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office rescued a woman being held against her will in a home in Dover.

On Friday, November 25, 2022, the HCSO dispatch center received multiple phone calls reporting a victim being held against her will. Around 12:30 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the 1300 block of Wilkinson Drive. Upon arrival, deputies made numerous attempts to contact the victim and the suspect. After several minutes, deputies made entry through the front door, allowing the victim to safely escape.

Deputies were able to confirm the suspect, Kim Michael Torres, 44, was still inside the home. Deputy Hartline and K9 Specter gave multiple commands for the suspect to come out, but he refused. Ultimately, K9 Specter was released into the home and was able to find Torres hiding inside a kitchen cabinet. After ignoring several more commands to come out, Torres was
apprehended by K9 Specter. He was treated at the scene by Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue and later transported to the Falkenburg Road Jail without further incident.

“We gave the suspect multiple warnings advising him to come out,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “The safety of the victim and our deputies on the scene is the top priority. Had it not been for the professionalism of our deputies, it could have ended differently. I also credit our dispatchers who recognized the need for deputies to respond, after the victim attempted to call for help without the suspect noticing.”

This investigation remains active. Any further updates will come from the HCSO Public Affairs Office.
