The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 9:02 a.m. Friday, March 6, on the 16000 block of Dawnview Drive in Tampa.
A 16-year-old victim was shot by a suspect while sitting together in a vehicle. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital with upper body trauma and is in stable condition. He is cooperating with detectives.
"Our deputies are talking to neighbors and reviewing surveillance video in the area to learn more about what led up to this incident, but we are confident that it was not random and there is no threat to the general public," said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
At least one suspect has been identified. No schools in the area are on lockdown related to this incident. No further information is available at this time.
