The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for human trafficking.
On February 21, 2024, HCSO received a 911 call from a staff member at the Rodeway Inn, 6510 North US Highway 301.
The employee reported that a woman with disabilities needed help.
When deputies arrived, they encountered a 29-year-old female who had been reported missing from Missouri.
During the detective's interview with the missing woman, she explained how she had connected with a man and his girlfriend on social media, who subsequently brought her to Florida.
The victim went on to explain that she was coerced into engaging in sexual acts. Detectives discovered messages sent to the victim by the man, urging her to "hustle" for him, implying for her to engage in commercial sexual activity.
Additionally, the man solicited her to sell explicit content online and asked about her willingness to host parties involving sexual activities.
On February 21, 2024, deputies arrested Andre Scott, 39, on a charge of Human Trafficking for Commercial Sex Act (Victim Mentally Defect or Incapacitated).
"Fighting against human trafficking and dismantling these criminal operations remains a forefront commitment to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our Human Trafficking Section remains relentless in rescuing victims, bringing perpetrators to justice, and raising awareness to help prevent the exploitation of vulnerable individuals."
A mental health professional from Florida Mentor arrived at the scene to provide care for the victim and coordinated the reunification process with her guardian from Missouri.
Anyone with information on this case, or if someone believes they may have been a victim of Andre Scott, please call HCSO at 813-247-8200.
