HCSO's High Visibility Enforcement Contract

In its continuous effort to make Hillsborough County roadways safer, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) details.

Hillsborough County ranks in the top 26 counties in Florida for traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists. 

On September 19, 2025, HCSO launched the HVE Operation which is funded through a contract with the University of North Florida in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation. The operation will run through May 8, 2026.  

Since launching the operation on September 19, HCSO has dedicated more than 580 hours to HVE with the primary objective of educating the public.

As of January 27, 2026, deputies have interacted with 1,664 pedestrians, 532 bicyclists, and 420 motorists providing educational materials on pedestrian safety. Additionally, 37 motorists and six pedestrians were issued citations, and warnings have been issued to 341 pedestrians, 84 bicyclists, and 513 motorists.
