The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office successfully de-escalated a suicidal woman at Alderman's Ford Nature Preserve.
On December 10, 2025, at 10:26 a.m., our 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a concerned parent reporting that their adult daughter was suicidal and provided her location at the preserve.
Deputies immediately responded to the scene and located the woman barricaded inside her vehicle with a firearm. HCSO's SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed, and our trained crisis negotiators worked for several hours to peacefully resolve the situation.
"I'm incredibly proud of how our deputies and Crisis Negotiation Team handled this delicate situation with skill and compassion," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Their training in de-escalation techniques and their patient approach helped bring someone in crisis to safety."
If you, or someone you know, is going through a mental health crisis, we encourage you to contact the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay at 211.
